EUROCOM NightSky RX15 is The Best OLED Display Ever

Eurocom Night Sky RX15 Laptop

Review Of The Eurocom Night Sky RX15 Laptop -

Now, this laptop targets creative professionals that want an OLED display with a high-performance chassis. This thing is not the thinnest laptop in the world. it's 1.12 inches thick and it weighs 5.5 pounds.

it's still reasonably portable, still reasonably thin will fit in just about any laptop backpack out there. The additional features that warrant the additional thickness when you're comparing this to something like the Razer Blade 15 or the Alienware M15 R2.

Let's take a look at the specs of  Eurocom Night Sky RX15

We have the i7 9750H that is the laptop processor in this or you can also get the I9-9980HK which is an eight-core processor versus the 9750H is 6 core processor. now as far as GPUs go you can get the RTX 2070 or you can get a 300 discount if you go with the gtx 1660 Ti.

We Were Checkout This laptop from Eurocom and they did repay the GPU and the CPU with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. So, know that the thermals on this are gonna be a little bit better than if you just stick with the default icy diamond thermal paste. now by default, this thing comes with 16 gigs in a single channel memory and We really recommend dual-channel memory for maximum possible performance.

So, We would recommend giving that 32 gigs of dual-channel memory. We are talking to your command We're hoping that they add an 8 gig by 8 gig dual channel setup option for this as the default option. Then this laptop has three physical drive slots you have  M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD  and you have one two and a half inch HDD slot. that has a 60 to a one-hour battery that is claimed to have up to seven hours of battery life not been able to get that so far. (but we'll talk about that in Below on Battery Section.)

The ports on the left side we have a headphone mic and USB type-A,

power-adapter-port-USB-Type-A-on-Night-Sky-RX15

on the back, we have a bunch of ports a power adapter port USB Type-A, USB-C mini Display Port HDMI and an Ethernet port on the right side.

Thunderbolt-3-compatible-Usb-on-Eurocom-Night-Sky-RX15

We have another USB type-A another USB-C and one of the two USB C's is Thunderbolt 3 compatible. They also threw in a full-size SD card reader down in front. This laptop has a fantastic selection of ports two giant thumbs up:)

Now the port selection and these storage options are two of the major advantages that the Night-sky is going to have over something like the Razer Blade 15 or the Alienware M15 R2 if you're someone that needs those ports or needs the storage this is one of the few options out there that has an OLED display with those features.

Let's go ahead and take a look at a bunch of benchmarks of Eurocom Night Sky RX15

gaming-performance-on-the-Night-Sky-Rx15

Taking a look at the gaming performance on the Night Sky Rx15 you can see that we're getting excellent frame rates and basically all the games at the highest possible settings. and guys keep in mind that since this is a 4k display it only has a 60 Hertz refresh rate. So, really we're just looking to hit over 60 frames per second in these benchmarks in this particular laptop.

Far-Cry-5-benchmark-On-Night-Sky-RX15The-Apex-Legends-training-steps-benchmark

Now for Far Cry 5 benchmark, we had 98 frames per second which are good, The Apex Legends training steps benchmark we had 226 frames per second which is very good and outscores almost all of these other laptops.

The-Witcher-3-cities-run-on-Eurocom-Night-Sky-RX15
The-Shadow-of-Tomb-Raider-Benchmark

Then we have The Witcher 3 cities run on ultra 84 frames per second and the last game we have for today is Shadow of the tomb raider on highest possible settings and we averaged 83 frames per second in the benchmark there and you can see it's outperforming a lot of these other laptops which is solid performance for our RTX 2070.

3d-mark-fire-strike-ultra-Benchmark

We have 3d mark fire strike ultra and the main other are RTX 2070 laptop here is the Horus 15XA and you can see that it got 4925 a little bit better than the RX15 but those numbers are close enough that could just be the difference in the silicon lottery.

Time-Spy-Graphic-score

We have the Time Spy Graphic score of 7872 which is really good at you can see compared to all these other laptops even surpassing the RTX 2080 MAXQ time spy graphics core of the EVOC P 960EN.

Cinebench-R15-Multi-scores

Then we have these Cinebench R15 Multi scores and Wow does the Eurocom night-sky our X15 do really well in this test. It does significantly better than almost any other 9750H laptop that We've ever tested scoring consistently right around 1275 give or take a few points.

handbrake-4k-render-time

This performance is also reflected in the handbrake 4k render time. This laptop did better than any other 8750H or 9750H laptop. The night sky was able to maintain a steady 3.99 gigahertz clock speed. Basically, 4 gigahertz across all six cores and the average temperature was only 88 degrees, which is really really impressive and of course, the results speak for itself the night sky was able to render the same clip over 2 minutes faster than the HP Omen.

Heaven benchmark

Now we also do a dual heavy stress test this utilizes The Heaven benchmark which maximizes the GPU usage and the fire strike physics CPU test in a continuous running loop. Now we do this test on the default fan profile as well as the max fan profile and you can see that the fan noise is not too bad even on max fans, It only gets up to 53 decibels.

Now the GPU itself never thermally throttled getting 78 degrees and 80 degrees depending on the profile. now we are getting a little bit of thermal throttling on the CPU because it was hitting up to 99 degrees and then dropping down.

max-fan-or-default-fan-mode

For the most part, it ran right around 4 gigahertz for most of the tests but it had occasional dips and that's why the average turned out to be about 3.8 gigahertz. The CPU essentially had identical performance whether it was in a max fan or default fan mode.

speaker-graph-for-Night-Sky-RX15

The last graph we have for you here is the speaker graph 86.1 decibels for the Night-Sky RX 15 and you can see with the average decibels for most gaming laptops rest right around 81-82 decibels.

So, this thing is definitely louder than your average gaming laptop sadly though the bass and the mids and the highs could be a little bit clearer and a little bit louder than the speaker's just come off a little bit muffled.

Eurocom Night Sky RX15 Keyboard and Trackpad Details

keyboard-backlight-on-Night-Sky-RX15

The keyboard backlight this machine is very bright and very vibrant. We're actually really impressed with it and the feel of the keys is good, not Great.

We will say that the layout is good overall you have a full number pad on the right side though that number pad is a little bit scrunched and a little bit more narrow than normal. but it's perfectly usable once you get used to it.

keyboard-flex

There is some keyboard flex so if you're someone that's really bothered by that you might want to pass on this laptop.

touchpad-on-this-Night-Sky-RX15

The touchpad on this machine is excellent. it's super smooth, it feels just like you're using as a smartphone display glass.  It's really a nice touchpad and there's also a built-in fingerprint sensor right in the middle. Sometimes the fingerprint Does not Work properly, it might be an issue with Windows 10.

The Special OLED Display of Eurocom Night Sky RX15

OLED-display-Nightsky-RX15

The OLED display on this laptop is made by Samsung. Samsung is basically the only one making 15 inch OLED displays right now. So, no matter what laptop you're getting you're gonna get the same OLED display. This display according to your home is rated for 600 nits of brightness which is just obscenely bright a 100 and 20000 to 1 contrast ratio and 100% of P3 color gamut. We will say that this display puts all other laptop displays to shame when it comes to color. it is just absolutely incredible the brightness is insane the contrast is insane and it's got a fairly quick response rate even though its refresh rate is only 60 Hertz. it's still a reasonable gaming display, especially for a 4k display.

Be Aware Of That -

Now one thing you must keep in mind is that since this is an OLED display it is susceptible to screen burn-in. Laptop screens that are displaying static backgrounds or logos along the bottom the taskbar all of that potential for screen burn-in. especially if you're running at maximum brightness and you're having static images on the display. now We're sure Samsung has done some things to prevent screen burn-in in the background for this display but the SIL effect is all OLED displays will eventually suffer from screen burn-in after hundreds or thousands of hours of use.

help-prevent-the-screen-burn-in

So, there are definitely some things you can do to help prevent the screen burn-in You Should Auto-hide the taskbar, You Should have the screen set to turn off its overall brightness or at least to dim it after only one minute of inactivity.

Eurocom Night Sky RX15 Battery Performance

Eurocom includes a 62-watt hour battery that they rate for up to seven hours of use. The main thing to keep in mind here is this does have Nvidia Optimus or Microsoft graphics switching which allows you to switch from the Intel GPU and the Nvidia graphics card back and forth depending on whether you're doing a game or whether you're just like browsing the web and it will switch to that integrated graphics to save power. But There We Notice that sometimes the Nvidia Graphics Switching Mode is Not Working Properly That's a very Dissapoint But If You Got the Same Problem Let us Know on Comment and Together we Find The Solution:")

The last important thing to keep in mind with the battery life is that this OLED display can really suck down the juice. if you have at maximum brightness So, if you're looking to save battery life as much as possible. you'll definitely want to turn the brightness down on the display and you can see it can go really dark because of that OLED display, which is pretty cool. The first, round you're gonna pay anywhere from about 2300 to about $2,600 for this laptop and at that price point, it's fairly expensive.

Eurocom Night Sky RX15  Pros and Cons

So, when it comes down to it why would you consider Night Sky or X15 over something like the Razor Blade 15? well, first of all, you have the full performance RTX 2070 graphics card.  if you're someone that wants to play games or utilizes the graphics card for your professional creative use then this is going to be a really good option. because you're gonna get a lot more power out of that non-MAXQ version of the graphics card.

Eurocom-Night-Sky-Rx15-Pros-&-Cons

The second main reason to consider this laptop is that you are getting more CPU performance than you would in, for example, the Razer Blade 15 because you're gonna be a lot more limited on the power throughput to the CPU which is going to result in a lot more CPU throttling.

The third major reason to consider this laptop is that you're getting three storage slot options including a two and a half-inch drive bay which is gonna give you a lot more storage for a lot less money overall We cannot say whether this is the best high-performance OLED display laptop out on the market but you certainly have a lot of additional versatility with this one. Especially when you compare it with the Alienware and the razorblade options but of course this one is thicker. The builds quality is not as nice but you're getting these same high-quality OLED display and a slightly higher performance Chassis which is nice. you're getting those additional ports and you're getting those additional storage options. So, it's really kind of up to you and what you value in a laptop whether you think this might be worth it. if you're in the market for a high-performance laptop with an OLED display the night sky RX15 is a reasonable choice despite its flaws.
